You may remember the punk-rock maternity session that I did back in March for Kim and Adrian. Well, I took these photos of little Parker a few months back now. Isn’t he a doll? Baby sessions require a little extra time, since the little ones require warmth, a full tummy, and lots of mommy-time. It really makes it easier on the parents when the photographer can go to the comfort and privacy of the family’s home or location that they choose, rather than an actual portrait studio, where they schedule appointments every 15 minutes. I know. I did that.
Two weeks after Isaiah was born we took him to Kiddie Candids, inside Baby’s-R-Us, for our family portraits. Our session time was exactly that – 15 minutes. Other families were patiently waiting for their scheduled time behind us. For the cute little naked baby portraits, Isaiah just was not having it. The studio was too cold. Babies have a very strong dislike for the cold by the way. As soon as his diaper came off, he peed all over my friend’s mom who was helping us at the time. He may have actually gone number 2 as well, if I remember correctly. He would not stop crying!!! And then, he got hungry. So, we had to let the other families go in front of us, while we sat off to the side and tried to tend to our very unhappy baby. The photographer was very nice though and tried to be as accommodating as possible. There wasn’t much privacy for baby feeding, however, and I had to sit in a very uncomfortable chair. Since we took so long with getting our fussy baby to mellow out, we had to purchase a second sitting fee. In the end, they only let you choose from 8 photos, and now I hear that they’ve changed it to 4.
But, thankfully, Kim and Adrian’s baby/family session wasn’t anything like that. We all had such a nice relaxing time together without any pressure to hurry along. Kim was effortlessly able to tend to Parker when he got fussy and didn’t have to worry about any strangers watching or anything like that. We were able to take feeding breaks and do diaper changes without any hassle.
I had a great time capturing such precious moments for their new family! Thank you!
xoxo
